UPDATE: Manya the bear has been rescued!

After living outside a restaurant for nearly 14 years, Manya has left her small cage behind. Her owner was very cooperative and Manya has already moved to her new home at the FOUR PAWS BEAR SANCTUARY Domazhyr in Ukraine.

But Manya wasn’t the only bear we rescued in Ukraine this week.

This is Tyson.

Tyson was rescued from a small, cramped cage in a hunting station in Ukraine. Taken from the wild as a cub, it’s likely that Tyson was used as a baiting bear – an illegal practice in the country.

Both bears will now start their lives at the FOUR PAWS BEAR SANCTUARY Domazhyr in Ukraine.

But we couldn’t have done this alone. We’re only able to rescue bears like Manya and Tyson because of the generous support of people like you. Thank you for making our work possible.

Our work is never over. If you would like to further support our work, please make a donation today.

Manya is a ‘restaurant bear’.

Sold to restaurant owners when she was three, Manya has been confined to a small, barren cage outside a restaurant in Lviv, Ukraine for the past 13 years.

With little room for movement and enrichment, her cage is sparsely equipped with a lone, rubber tire. Out of boredom and desperation, Manya regularly bites the iron bars.

This is no life for a bear.

We’re desperate to rescue Manya and give her a new home at our BEAR SANCTUARY Domazhyr in Ukraine. But we urgently need your help.

Will you donate today? Your support could help us rescue Manya, and help other animals in need around the world.
