30 hours per week or flexible / London Office / 6 months 

We currently have a position available for an internship in our Communications department, which starts as soon as possible and runs for six months ( dates are flexible). As an intern you will be involved in helping to build the profile of FOUR PAWS in the UK and spreading the word about our animal welfare work through a variety of channels, encompassing national press, online and social media, and marketing activities.

This is the ideal role for someone looking to get hands on experience in a broad range of communications disciplines within the charity sector.

This position is unpaid but travel expenses (from a reasonable distance) and lunch will be covered.

Main duties:

• Support the Head of Communications to deliver the UK communications strategy
• Help with efforts to raise FOUR PAWS’ brand recognition and awareness levels in the UK
• Support in the community management of the organisation’s social media channels
• Assist in the development and distribution of press releases and responding to media enquiries
• Assist administration of day to day communications activities and projects, including evaluation and reporting into International Communications HQ
• Assist the Head of Communications in providing PR, marketing and online comms support to Campaigns & Fundraising departments
• Conducting research in support of communications projects and initiatives
• Support with daily media monitoring, compiling clippings reports and other administrative tasks
• Support with celebrity engagement
• Assist in creative and strategic planning and development of communications plans to support our campaigns and project work
• Regular updating and maintenance of the UK website

Requirements:

• Excellent skills in English (written and oral) are essential
• Very good command of MS Office package
• Ability to conduct thorough research using the Internet
• Genuine knowledge of and interest in Communications disciplines (PR, journalism, marketing, social media)
• Good knowledge and experience on animal welfare issues is an advantage
• Great affinity to animal welfare and FOUR PAWS issues and values
• Highly motivated, driven and hands-on, open-minded and ready to show initiative.
