We’re incredibly saddened and concerned about the war in Ukraine and the devastating effect it is having on people and animals.

Since day one of the war, with your support, we have been there to help Ukraine and its precious animals.  

FOUR PAWS has our BEAR SANCTUARY Domazhyr in the west of Ukraine which is currently home to 34 rescued bears.

Air attacks have been reported in this area but our brave and dedicated team have remained on-site, continuously caring for the bears whilst staying in close contact with our international teams.

Since the war started, we have helped thousands of animals in need by:  

  • Providing support to people fleeing with their pets at the borders of Romania, Bulgaria, Slovakia and Moldova.
  • Delivering urgently needed food to multiple shelters - 300 tons of food to sustain over 12,000 dogs and 9,000 cats.
  • Delivering emergency food to feed the giraffes, elephants, rhinos and hippos living in the Kyiv Zoo. 
  • Rescuing bear Vova from a restaurant in an emergency mission.
  • Supporting the evacuation of seven bears from a sanctuary near Kyiv.
  • Launching a platform that facilitates the distribution of dog and cat food to hundreds of shelters.
