Rescued from Europe’s worst zoo
For years Bobby was locked up in a small cage with a concrete floor in Europe’s ‘worst zoo’ in Fier, Albania. With no protection from the elements, no medical or species appropriate care - he lived a hopeless existence.
Bobby got a new lease on life
Because of the environment Bobby was kept in when we found him, he initially suffered from an infected wound, infested with maggots. Whilst we were able to treat his surface wounds effectively, sadly he suffered from kidney issues which required ongoing intensive care and medication.
Bobby’s start in life was not a life he deserved. However, after moving to FELIDA Big Cat Sanctuary, we witnessed this magnificent lion enjoy life to the fullest. Bobby's favorite hobby was lounging and relaxing. After his morning routine - during which he explored his enclosure, marked his territory, and joined in the “lion choir” - he would jump into his hammock, where he preferred to spend the entire day.
