Help end the dog and cat meat trade in Vietnam

Every year, five million dogs and one million cats are brutally slaughtered for their meat in Vietnam. These innocent animals are taken from the streets or stolen from their homes, a traumatic experience for both the pets and their owners. After being transported long distances, often lasting days, these frightened dogs and cats are killed using gruesome methods such as drowning, blowtorching, electrocution, and beating.

The UK embassy in Vietnam is instrumental to ending the dog and cat meat trade in Vietnam once and for all.

FOUR PAWS are co-chairs of the Companion Animals Technical Working Group as part of our work within the Vietnam One Health Partnership for Zoonoses Control. We intend to use this as a forum to bring together important stakeholders to raise concerns about the dog and cat meat trade and the related risks to both local people and tourists. As a member of the One Health Partnership, it is the UK ambassador to Vietnam's duty to represent its citizens and in doing so, use this platform and support an end to the dog and cat meat trade.
