Ask your MP to #GetTheBanDone

The Hunting Trophies (Import Prohibition) Bill is having its Second Reading on 22 March, and we need your support to help make sure this Bill becomes law.

This long-awaited legislation has the potential to be world-leading and protect almost 7,000 species listed in Annex A or B of the Principal Wildlife Trade Regulation, including those animals threatened with extinction.

Almost nine years have passed since the horrific death of Cecil the lion at the hands of an American dentist turned trophy hunter. At least 60 more lions have been killed by British trophy hunters since, despite numerous government commitments promising to ban the import of hunting trophies.

We need your help. Will you write to your MP and urge them to attend the Second Reading of the Hunting Trophies (Import Prohibition) Bill on Friday 22 March and vote in its favour? Your support could make the difference and get this Bill over the line.

Please write to your MP and urge them to:

  • Attend the Second Reading and vote in favour of the Bill
  • Speak up for wild animals by supporting and defending the legislation against any opposition to ensure it remains as strong as possible
  • Write to the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA), Steve Barclay MP, letting him know of their support, and asking him to ensure the Bill has the Government’s backing

With your help, we can make 2024 the year we see an end to the UK’s role in trophy hunting. Can we count on you?
