He has waited a lifetime. 

Now, he finally has a chance to start over – but we urgently need your support to rescue Felix and bring him to BEAR SANCTUARY Arbesbach. 

At 34 years old, Felix is one of the oldest bears we have ever had the chance to rescue . For more than 30 years, he lived behind a restaurant in Slovenia – trapped in a concrete enclosure, used to attract more visitors.

We have been fighting for his rescue since 2022, and now his moment has finally come.

Despite his advanced age, we were relieved that our health checks some weeks ago revealed that he is fit enough for the transfer to our BEAR SANCTUARY Arbesbach in Austria. After all those years in a barren enclosure, he deserves to learn what it means to live a species-appropriate life. 

  • £15 could feed a rescued bear for a day.
  • £30 could help to medically treat a rescued bear.
  • £50 could provide bear cubs with special milk formula for a week.
  • A generous gift of £100 could help provide more abused animals with a species-appropriate home.

🟢 Update: Bear Felix has been RESCUED! He’s arrived at BEAR SANCTUARY Arbesbach and had his first vet checks. He’s already built himself a cosy nest out of straw - and he’s literally digging his new home! Both straw and soil are new to him, and digging around seems to be a new favourite pastime for this senior bear.
