More than 60 animals found in desperate need.
In Argentina, two brown bears and over 60 big cats - including lions and tigers - were found living in severely inadequate conditions in a former zoo. Confined to cramped enclosures and deprived of proper care, each animal endured unimaginable physical and psychological distress. Their daily suffering was truly heartbreaking.
One of our biggest and most complex missions to date.
An initial assessment revealed the critical need for proper care, raising serious concerns about the animals' safety, health and wellbeing.
We rely on your help to carry out our lifesaving work and be there for animals in desperate need. Will you support FOUR PAWS to be able to respond to complex emergency missions?
🔔 Update - Since our arrival:
- We have completed health checks on 32 lions, 30 tigers and two bears.
- Some needed immediate help, so we carried out emergency surgeries and treated painful wounds, infections and serious dental issues.
- Animals in critical condition, including bears Gordo and Florencia, have been safely transferred to our sanctuaries.
- Now, our focus is giving the remaining big cats the care, comfort and long‑term protection they have been denied for so long.
