The Government’s latest consultation is looking into what a ban on this so-called “sport” would look like.
Trail hunting involves laying an animal-based scent trail for dogs to follow. This brings the risk of the dogs picking up the scent of a live wild animal and then pursuing it, instead of keeping to the laid trail. Despite fox hunting being banned under the Hunting Act over 20 years ago, people have continued to indulge in this barbaric and illegal activity under the guise of trail hunting, with many foxes being killed so-called “accidentally”.
