This year, the United Nations Environment Programme stated that transforming diets to derive more protein from plants and less from animals has the potential to reduce annual greenhouse gas emissions by up to 20% of current emissions.
I pledge to reduce or eliminate animal products in my diet. Around the world millions of people are doing the same, tackling climate change through diet change. But we need world leaders to take responsibility to drive this shift further and faster.
As the pathway to limiting climate change to just 1.5 Celsius is narrowing quickly, we ask World Leaders to:
- Formally recognise the global warming impact of industrialised animal agriculture at the Conference of Parties (COP26) and
- Commit to develop and invest in mitigation strategies to support and drive a just transition towards plant-centric food-systems.
